#BuildABetterFakeTheropod - Shaggy Theropod

Description

In response to the disappointingly generic Indominous rex in Jurassic World, artist Brian Engh decided to come up with some more interesting beasts himself, and encouraged other artists to follow suit in this post here. You can follow along on Twitter on the #buildabetterfaketheropod hashtag. The response has been amazing as artists from all over hop onboard to came up with their own theropods which are more interesting than I. rex - which isn't too difficult considering how generic it is. But some of the stuff that people have come up with are simply amazing.

I drew a few fake theropods myself, but this is one that I've decided to submit to dA as well - it is a theropod based on the mythological "Shaggy Beast" or Peluda. This theropod shares some of its characteristics with that mythical beast. It may look shaggy, but it is actually covered in a dense layer of porcupine-like quills. The quills on its tail are particular strong and contains a mild venom. Much like the Shaggy Beast, a strike from its tail will kill an adult human - either from the impact or from the venom later.

Accordingly to the myth, the Shaggy Beast survived the biblical flood and went on a rampage afterwards - imagine working that into Jurassic World instead, the rampaging Shaggy Theropod laying a wake of destruction after the park was hit by a massive storm...
